Caulking Repair & Replacement
Your in-ground pool caulk plays an important role in protecting the integrity of your swimming pool. Pool caulk runs the perimeter of the pool, in a horizontal fashion, between the pool coping and your sidewalk or deck. The main function of the caulk is to keep this cavity dry so that moisture does not penetrate your pool coping and pool tiles.
Without a solid in-ground pool caulking job, your pool is in jeopardy of exposure to water damage caused by the freezing and thawing of moisture that works its way down behind your swimming pool. The winter conditions here in Easton and the greater Lehigh Valley can be severe. If moisture repeatedly gets behind your pool wall during the winter, you run the risk of damaging your pool copings and tiles.
Pool caulk is an elastic, moisture curing sealant. Our caulk allows for approximately 25% joint movement when your sidewalk moves or shifts due to the winter conditions, including the freezing and thawing of the ground. Additionally, the caulk we use will not shrink and it can be painted any color.
When Is It Time To Replace Caulking in My Pool?
Trapani Pools recommends that you repair or replace your pool caulk once it shows signs of deterioration by separating from the pool coping or sidewalk. This will prevent melted snow and water from penetrating your pool’s infrastructure and freezing during the winter, which consistently causes swimming pool damage here in Bethlehem and Easton.
We recommend that you replace or repair your pool caulk every five to eight years, depending on the amount of sunlight and exposure to wintery conditions, along with swimming pool chemicals such as chlorine.
Never clean your pool caulk with a power washer; the extreme force may damage your swimming pool caulk. Instead, we recommend that you clean your caulk yearly, with a scrub-brush and light cleanser.
Trapani Inground Pool Restoration is happy to give you a free estimate for your swimming pool caulk repair or caulk replacement here in the Lehigh Valley. We believe that caulking the cavity between your pool coping and sidewalk may be the most important pool maintenance you can undertake. Call us today for your free estimate.

” I had Trapani Pool Restoration repair my 25 year old gunite pool which had missing tiles (a lot of missing tiles) and the plaster was discolored and missing in some area’s. Charlie’s crew did an AMAZING job making the pool look new again. I hope I don’t need repairs for another 25 years but when I do I’ll be calling Trapani. “
